a few more ties...

Spent a little time this past week makin' a few new ties. These little babies are so easy to put on & wear for little boys...the tricky part is finding a good boy print fabric that I love...here are a few...

Oh, and in our house, we don't mind the rule of mixing prints :) Here's a few snapshots of the ties in action & our sweet Hayes with his "old man" hair...I think his better look is a bit more disheveled & less comb-over...

a few Easter embellishments...

Added a wee-bit to these simple white & cream tops to go with some darling lace leggings for Easter. Three sisters means plenty of ruffles & girliness. Love it...

feels like spring...

Hello friends, once again, things have been full & wonderful around here lately. I'm working on around 7 or 8 projects simultaneously right now & just finished a few more. There were quite a few Easter orders & here are a few to share with you...

A few little cardigans to go over some Easter dresses...The dresses that go beneath these were so beautiful, it proved a hard task for me to find something to go with them that would feel handmade, yet not detract from the incredible dresses. So my thought was to stay monochromatic, while adding a bit of texture. I was once again inspired by a few Crewcuts items in the newest catalog, and went to work. I was happy with the way they turned out, much cuter than on the hangers...

ya'll come visit us at the Antique show, ya hear?

Ok, cheesy title to this post, I know, but for real...I am going to be at the Antique Farm Equipment show in Tulare this Saturday & Sunday from 8am to 3pm. We'll be selling many of the goods ya'll have seen here on the blog & also we'll have an assortment of the goodies from my favorite hair accessories line BeWee (beweeshop.com....check it out, it's beautiful).

So, if you're in the mood this weekend, take the hubby, take the kids & head on over to the Farm Show Grounds & come visit us in Pavillion C. Mention you saw this blogpost & I'll make sure you get a free somethin' from our goods for your trouble :)

ahhhh...lovin' the bias

Hello again friends...been a full few weeks, thus the long delay in posts...no worries, busy weeks mean lots of projects & plenty of posts to come!

This past week I finally bought the Simplicity Bias Tape maker. After swooning over it since I first laid eyes on it, I decided it would be a great addition to my sewing repertoire. And it totally is. Here are a few projects I twiddled around with this past week.

I used the bias tape around the armholes of a pillowcase dress, and made a few coordinating ties to go with it for a custom order.

And then used a little extra on an oilcloth bib. I love the fact that now I can pick any coordinating fabric to make bias tape out of & it's a lot more inexpensive than buying the small packs from the fabric store. Hopefully I'll soon get the hang of cutting & sewing the fabric on the bias, as my little machine can whip out 25 feet of bias tape a minute. Woo hoo :)

I tried my hand at freezer paper stenciling again, this time goin' back to my roots- life on the dairy. To me, there is nothing better than being a kid, growin' up on a dairy. Plenty of room to explore & play & get dirty in the mean time. So anyway, this shirt serves as a friendly reminder of my upbringing.

For the first one, I used the inside of my cow cut-out. And for the second one I thought I'd try to use the outside of the cut-out & see how it went. More experimentation to come....the possibilities are endless...

top it off...

These hats were a custom order from a friend for her little girl...they were a quick project, and turned out really fun. I used some felt flowers, a few buttons & a rhinestone or two & paired them with some hand stitching. Pretty stylish for a four-year-old no?
