take me to the beach...or anywhere...

These are great bags for toting around just about anything you can think of. They are sturdy, can be easily cleaned, and are cute to boot. I embellished the purple one with a huge silk flower, and plenty of hanging ribbons and fabrics. The blue one was adorned with handmade ruffle flowers.
A great blend of practicality, functionality & beauty...

a bit more embellishing...

A few embellished t's and dresses this week...
Plenty of great fabrics, doilies, rhinestones, and hand-stitching create these little beauties...

embellished sash...

As you can tell, I do a lot of projects for little girls around here. Girls are just so easy to dress & it is so fun to add little embellishments here & there for their outfits. I created this sash as an embellishment for a little one's Easter dress this year. I used an array of colorful cotton prints to create the ruffle "flowers" and added a large crocheted fuchsia flower behind them to add a different texture. It's hard to see from the photo, but there are a few rhinestones thrown in there too for a little added sparkle. I attached the pieces to a wide bright pink satin ribbon, so this piece can be worn over the dress one day, and with a pair of shorts and a tee the next day. Very versatile, and it instantly adds a bit more color to a simple outfit.

matching clips...

Just a few more clips to share with you today. I made these up to match some of those dresses from yesterdays post, and a few more for my little one's hair. I love the mixture of all the textures; light & airy feathers, ruffled fabric, netting, lace, velvet, satin & a little sparkle. Enjoy!

Look right!

Hello all,
Just FYI: I added a few new things to the right on this screen to help you when perusing through this blog. Hopefully you'll enjoy some new features that will make it easier to find old posts, etc.
You can subscribe by email to this blog, it'll automatically send you an email with the newest posts & keep you updated with what is going on around here. If you don't want to receive an email, you can go to the very top of this page and subscribe to the feed, which will just update it in your blogspot listings.
Also, a new search button, where you can search this blog for past projects & posts. For example, you can search "clips" and anytime I mentioned "clips" in a post, it'll come up.
Lastly, I added the labels on the side there so you can search through things that way. If you want to look at things for babies, or crocheted items, you can easily bring up past posts within certain categories.
So anyway, enjoy & thanks again for stopping by this little space & also for all the encouraging comments that inspire me to keep creating! Now go & create something good for yourself too!

a trio of dresses...

These three outfits were a custom order from a mama who wanted coordinating looks for her three girls for Easter this year. We used fabrics specially selected by her, & wanted to create 3 different dresses that coordinated, but not matching exactly. They turned out bright, springy, and with plenty of ruffles to go around...and around...and around.
For this dress, we used an existing purple dress from Target for the top part & added a few rows of wide, gathered ruffles to add fullness & color. Using a simple dress or top that you already have can be an easy way to create a look without having to create a dress from scratch.

With this look, we decided to create the skirt from scratch, but chose a simple t-shirt & embellished it to match the skirt. I added some gathered lace to the already gathered ruffles to create lots of fullness & texture.

And lastly, we used this cute little sundress & just added a plethora of embellishments to it to coordinate with the other girls' dresses. It has plenty of ruffles just like the other dresses, but with a bit of "bling" here & there to add some sparkle.

bunny rattles

I have babies on my brain lately & have been loving working on little projects like these rattles
because they are relatively quick to whip up, and will be totally useful in the future.
I normally don't love bunny, sheep, etc baby things, but thought this rattle was
a cute little project for this time of year.

The bunny with the pink charmuese bow above went to my 4 month old niece, who is just starting to grab on & hold things. The one with the tan charmuese bow below found it's way into our baby's nursery and is sitting atop a shelf until it will be chewed on, shaken & played with by our new little babe.

I found the pattern for these in the latest issue of Crochet Today! Kids & Baby.
If you like to crochet, I'd recommend picking this issue up. it's full of great basic projects for babies and kids. There are great baby shower gifts to make in there as well!
