feelin' blue...

Made this scalloped shawl using a basic shell stitch, bulky yarn & a large crochet hook. I then finished the edge off with a few scallops & some hand covered fabric buttons...I love this blue right now.

I made this one using some varigated yarn...same stitch as the shawl above, just used a smaller needle & a less bulky, multicolored yarn. Pretty sure I already know who these are headed for...got a few friends' birthdays coming up...

sweet little thing...

Saw a few cute crocheted hats on Pinterest that made me want to use a few more pompoms (everywhere)...so I whipped up a few little hats one morning, and luckily for me, my new niece just happened to be coming over for a little play date...
Wow newborns are sweet...especially this one:

To me this hat came out slightly Minnie-Mouse-ish, with a touch of Muppet's.
Yes, I am quite often my worse critic when it comes to handmade goods.
I think it's cute for a newborn, not sure for older girls.

Tatum spent all morning convincing me that her cousin wanted to watch Beauty & The Beast because she would really like it...sure, she's the one who likes it...
When did my Tatum get this big? Seriously, 3 year difference is huge.

a hat or two (or three or more)...

What have I been doing the past few weeks? Well, enjoying family time, plenty of Christmas traditions & lots of eating (eating for two during the holidays is an unreal experience). I've also been completing a bunch of custom orders, finishing up just before "santa" was due to arrive. So, here are a few of the special hats I made this past week or two...

This red one & the fuchsia one below went to a good friend of mine who is battling stage four cancer right now & due to her chemotherapy is just starting to lose her hair. Man, I hate cancer & the effect it has on the body. I think I have an equal disdain for those treatments, they really do a number on the body as well. So anyway, these little hats are my sad little attempt to make a bright spot in the battle...

On that note, if you know someone battling cancer who would be perked up by a hand crocheted hat, PLEASE email me their name, address, story, etc & I will whip up a hat for them. For some reason God has given me the strange talent & love to crochet, so I might as well use it to benefit another one of his children. So really, email me. I'm not concerned about how many hats to make, it would be my pleasure to give.

After making the red bobble hat above, I decided Tatum just had to have one too...well I had to use up the extra yarn :) I love this kid, even though it is a constant struggle to even get her to look at the camera (without a blanket shoved in her sweet little 3 year old mouth).

More goodies to come this week...

my little "helper"...

I get asked quite frequently how I get all my projects done with two small ones at home with me...little did you all know that I put them to work. I try & teach them colors, sorting, etc while I'm crafting, but with this little one epecially, it usually turns into dumping, throwing & mixing...which is fine with me. This kid has just the sweetest, sensitive personality I can't help but let him have fun with glue sticks & buttons...no matter how long it takes me to clean up after him.

a view of our booth...

Just wanted to share a few photos of my booth a few weeks ago at Merry Madness...nothing fancy in the least bit, but all the color in that beautiful yarn is decoration enough don't you think?

My sweet mom & sister even came to help out...with my sister's new 4 week old baby girl...
yes, I am blessed with a great family who like to sell my stuff more than I do sometimes :)

Hats off to American Girls...

See that little sweet beanie above? That is one of my favorite custom orders of all time. A grandmother ordered 3 beanies for her granddaughters, then called me a few days later & asked if I could make matching beanies for the girls' American Girl dolls. So yes, each one of these beanies pictured is a miniature version of the hat I made for the little girls (even with matching clips). It gets better. Then, they are all meeting up in a few weeks for Christmas & going to the American Girl Store to have tea. Now seriously...could that be any cuter? I am in love with this idea of making matching hats for little girls' dolls. I sure hope my little Tatum starts to be interested in her dolls soon...cause this mama will be ready to go with coordinating hats.
Now if only we could find the clothes for her doll...
