I feel summer comin' on...

Ok the weather here has been sort of funny lately, not hot like typical June in the central valley. I mean really? 72 degrees in June? But it is summer time, and I wanted to share a fun little custom order that I worked on this past week. Since "amping up" this bag I've done a few more in different colors & love the practicality of the bags while still being aesthetically pleasing. Because, according to my practical husband, "form with out function is not really worthwhile" ( I am pretty sure I happen to think the complete opposite). Well there ya go, this little proyecto meets both qualifications of form & function. Take me to the beach baby...

a little embellishment..times 2

I was asked to do a custom order a few weeks back for a onesie to go with a sweet yellow little skirt. A few ribbons, yoyos and buttons later, this is what I came up with. I ended up liking it so much that I made a similar t-shirt version for Tatum.

teeth or no teeth on your alligator?

Hey my dear sweet readers, I have a little poll for you...

I've been making quite a few little clips lately (GREAT, easy gift to give) and was wondering which you prefer...alligator clips with or without teeth? Some argue that the teeth can snag the hair, but others say that the clips without the ridges in them slip easily out of hair. So I know, this is NOT a major life-changing, world-impacting question....but I'd like some feedback from all of ya'll.

So leave a comment at the bottom of this post (not on my facebook page) & you'll be entered in a drawing to win a few crocheted clips from me!

And for those of you who have no idea what an alligator clip is, ask someone with a small daughter who likes bows. :)

keep it clean...

We all know kids are messy...and inevitably they will spill...on everything...they touch.

So, in a small effort to counteract that, bibs were created. And finding the selection in stores to be character-ridden and babyish, I knew it was time to create something more pleasing to the eye. Thus came these bibs. Made of scrumptious, vintage-inspired, & vibrant colors of water-proof, machine, washable oilcloth (I am pretty sure that's a run-on sentence, but just go with it). Also, I like to use pearl snaps on all the bibs I make because hardly any kid can rip them off of their neck in a fit (is it only my kids who do that?) and they last longer then Velcro.

These little babies will keep your little baby a bit cleaner & keep you a bit happier.

What's not to love?

Target upgrade...

A few weeks ago I got trapped (yes, totally sucked in) in the little girls' clothing section at Target. What is it about those clothes...so decently priced, so colorful, all the while my mind is telling me "buy it today or it'll be gone tomorrow." Ok so that a little drama-filled, but I do love their clothes there.

So I snagged this little romper. I must confess I had 2 different rompers in my hand, toted them to the front of the store & then sensibly told myself Tatum does NOT need two, one will suffice just fine. I love the taupey-gray & yellow but wanted to add some handmade details to make it unique. A few crocheted flowers & vintage buttons later we had this...

Easter recap...

Yes, It's been a few days, but I had to share the Easter upgrade I made for Tatum's dress this year. I had ordered this dress a few months back for a great (i mean smokin') deal from one of my favorite children's clothing lines Right Bank Babies. Their entire line of clothing looks handmade, which I can't get enough of! When the dress arrived it was a wee bit darker and more plain than it had appeared online. So I decided it needed a bit of embellishing. That same week I saw a belt my mama was wearing that I knew I had to make for Tatum. Thus came the flower scrap sash...I have already made one more for Tatum in brighter colors for this Summer & know I need to make one for myself. This sash amps up any plain jane outfit just perfectly & I love the way it made Tatum's dress more Spring-like...

And as it quite often goes for boys, I did not make anything for Hayes, but his shirt did match the trim poking out beneath Tatum's skirt. I didn't get a photo of them together, but I had to throw in a photo here of my sweet Hayes...

yet a few more church bags....

Whew....I'm ba-aaaack. It's been a full time of life right now, small kitchen remodel, tons of sewing projects, working as a secretary a few days a week, Easter & Mother's Day...the list goes on & on. But don't you fret, within all of that there has been a good deal of creating which means fun stuff to share with all of you!

These bags were a custom order from a grandmother to give to her three little grand-daughters for Easter. What a cool gift to get from your gma right?

more goodies to come...
